by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (August 27, 2021) - Dustin Allen became the first Late Model feature winner at the New Tulsa Speedway on Friday with his victory in the Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series main event.
For Allen, it was his second victory in the last three events and his third of the season.
Allen, who started third row outside, had to chase down early leader Jason Redman and he took the lead before the midway point. Kip Hughes worked his way into second and tried to chase Allen down. Near the midway point in the feature Hughes lost control and Hayden Ross pulled alongside to challenge for second. The two raced side-by-side briefly before Hughes charged back into the runner-up position. Hughes held on to second leaving Ross with third at the finish. Damian Patocka and Kaleb Roach rounded out the top five.

About Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
