BEAVER, Oklahoma (April 13, 2024) - It has been a long time coming, but Jon Herring, Jr. picked up his first career APEX Healthcare Partners Sooner Late Model Series main event victory Saturday at Beaver County Raceway.

It was the first visit for the Sooner Series to Beaver County Raceway and the first race to be held there in about ten years. And the community was eager to see racing return to western Oklahoma as a pack grandstand was on hand.

Jason Rogers beat pole sitter Herring to the front and led half the 25-lap main event on the Beaver 3/8’s mile oval. But a yellow flag waved half way through the event and on the restart Herring took advantage grabbing the lead from Rogers and racing to his first Sooner Series victory. Rogers held on to second with Troy Bynum third.

Sooner Late Model Series

The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas.
