by John Rittenoure - AMARILLO, Texas (May 15, 2021) - After giving up the lead on Friday at West Texas Raceway due to a broken shock, Colton Horner redeemed himself Saturday with his first Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series A feature victory at Route 66 Motor Speedway.
The 18-year old from Katy, Texas broke a right front shock on Friday handing over the win to Zach Nickell. Saturday it was all Horner going the distance this time.
Friday winner Nickell gave chase for awhile till he hit a hole and nosed into the wall. Points leader Hayden Ross worked his way into second looking for his first series win, but could not reel Horner in and finished second to pad his points lead over Kip Hughes who suffered a blown engine early in the night. Joe Godsey, who won earlier this season at Thunderbird Speedway, was third.
Racing continues next Saturday when the CWT Sooner Series stops at Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada.

Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
